“Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another” – Galatians 5:26
_______________ Have you ever met a person who thinks he is better or more important than you? Can their conceitedness be seen through an “uppity” spirit? How do you think this makes a person feel? The Word of God teaches us that we are not to use our gifts, talents, education, accomplishments, and wealth to humiliate others, to make others feel inferior to ourselves, to make ourselves seem more important than others, to prove we are better than others, or to be more powerful for the purpose of drawing attention to ourselves. Our actions or words should never be motivated by a selfish, prideful, conceited or "uppity" spirit. And yet, how often is this rule violated? Not once did our Savior Jesus Christ do anything with a motive to outshine, show out, or show up someone else, and neither should we. These things promote nothing but contention and rivalry and contribute nothing to salvation. Instead, we should make a person feel they are just as important as we are, and that their contributions are valuable. We are workers together with different gifts and talents to be used toward a common cause. For this reason, we need each other. So let’s work together, because we can achieve more together! ___________ By Gale Henderson. All rights reserved.
