“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” - Philippians 2:12
_______________ When a man is born again, God does the glorious work of salvation within him, freeing him from the guilt of sin, connecting him with his Son Jesus, and filling him with his spirit. Once God has done his part, it doesn’t stop there. Paul the Apostle says we now must work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. Working out your own salvation means "living out" or to "live out" the new or changed man you’ve become. Since God has already done the work of salvation within us, we, the born-again believer in Christ, must "work out" what he has done inside of us, so that the new, changed, transformed man can be seen. But how do we work out our own salvation? Along with much diligence on our part, we need the Word of God and the help of the Holy Spirit. The Word of God is our guide to help us know and learn how to live out our new life, a godly lifestyle. Through His Son Jesus, God gave us His Spirit to teach us the truth and help us live according to the truth. We are all responsible for working out our own salvation. Yes, salvation is a free gift. We didn’t have to work for it, but we do have to work it out from within us. And as we do, God will work together with us, giving us power and grace to enable us to do his will. That’s if we truly desire to live an obedient life, honoring, pleasing, and glorifying God in all we do. ___________ By Gale Henderson. All rights reserved.
