Free Bible Reading Checklist
"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success" - Joshua 1:8
As believers in Christ, it is important to set aside time for prayer and reading the Bible.
Reading through the entire Bible can seem like a nearly impossible task. Our free printable Bible reading checklist is designed to help you through the Bible in the easiest way possible. With this easy-to-use handy checklist, you’ll be able to visualize your progress by checking off the chapters as you read them, until you have finished reading the entire bible. You can customize your plan any way you choose.
There are a number of ways you can read the Bible. You can choose to (1) read chapters book by book, (2) read a little from the Old and New Testament, (3) read the New Testament first (recommend), then the Old Testament, or (4) by genre (sections or type of book).
Any first reading of the Bible should begin with the Gospels. The gospel of Mark is a good place to start. It tells about what Jesus did. Then you might want to go on to the gospel of John, which focuses on the things Jesus claimed about Himself. Reading the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) will familiarize you with Christ’s life and ministry.
As part of your daily reading, we encourage you to include a chapter from the book of Psalms in your daily reading plan. Psalms are songs and prayers from people with a heart after God who are meaningfully communing with God. They teach us and shape our devotional times with God.
Remember to always pray before reading the Bible. Ask God to open your eyes to see what he wants you to see, to know the truth of His word, to fill you with the knowledge of His Will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, and to strengthen you to walk in obedience of His word.
As you read through the Bible, let God cultivate and redefine your character, attitude and behavior. The more you read the Bible, the more you will know about God, and how to better lead your life!
When you have finished reading God's Word, give thanks for the blessing of being able to spend time with Him in prayer and His Word, for truly many are not able to read and hold the Bible in their hands - "But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear." - Matthew 13:16.
Prayer Blessing
May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places. In Jesus name, Amen. (Ephesians 1:17-20)
