"And he (Apollos) began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly (accurately)" - Acts 18:26
We all should press on to excel in the knowledge of our Lord, that our work for Him can prosper more, and be more effective. But, what a shame it is when a person who has an opportunity to gain more wisdom about the things of God refuses to receive it, simply because he or she has preference of who to receive wisdom from.
Refusing to receive wisdom from others because of whatever personal reason you may have, can possibly prevent and even prolong the process of "getting from here to there." It should not matter where wisdom comes from if wisdom is indeed true knowledge, and can better equip you and help you to be more effective in your work, even taking you to the next level.
Keep in mind, God can use anybody He pleases as His hands, feet and mouth to be a blessing or a help to others. And we all need somebody to help us along the way - to show us the way to go, and how things should appropriately be done.
If there are people in your life who are willing to share what they know to help you, push pride and your selfish reasons aside and let them.
You may not see it now, but in the latter, you will look back and realize it was the hand of God bringing people in your life to guide you to the place pre-destined for you.
