“Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?” – John 6:67
In the synagogue at Capernaum, Jesus had spoken of himself being the true bread of life sent down from heaven by which man can live, revealing that he was superior to Moses. The Jews after hearing these words began to murmur among themselves, because they did not understand what Jesus was saying.
Among those who were murmuring were his own disciples, who as a result left him and turned back to follow the teachings of other doctrines. In response to those who had left him, Jesus ask the remaining disciples” will you also go away?”
How about you? Will you go away? Will you leave Jesus because you don’t understand His teachings? Will you leave Him when things get rough?
Where can a man go after being under the teachings of Christ? Where can he go for the redemption of his soul? What other well can his soul drink from and never be thirsty? Who can take care of him and provide for him the way God can? Who can make the kind of promises God has made and keep them? Who else can you trust to lead and guide you and never leave you?
There is no one else in any other place, group or sect who is like the living, faithful and merciful God in heaven. If you are struggling with understanding God’s word or with anything else in your life, don’t leave Jesus. Instead talk to Him about your issues. Trust Him - He knows just what to do.
