“Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints” – Colossians 1:4
Paul the Apostle received a report concerning the saints at the Colossian church. One of the ministers told him about the saint’s faith in Christ and their love to all fellow believers. Bear in mind, Paul had never seen the saints at this church. What he knew of them was by word of mouth.
Who we are, how we behave and how we live our lives can be told to others by word of mouth, a text message or a social media post. But the real report of who we are and the kind of life we live can be clearly seen with the natural eye. Especially by a person who has never met you. They don’t know you are Christian, but what they do know just by what they’ve witnessed with their own eyes is that, clearly you are different. You act different, behave different, respond different and the life you live clearly shows you are living by a different set of principles.
When you not only hear the word of God, but believe, obey and apply the word of God to your life, it will be evident to others that you are living by principles and standards not like the world. This is the real report, the one you give through the life you live.
What have others seen differently in your life since you’ve been with Christ? If there is a verbal report to be given of you, what would it be and who would be the person to give it?
