"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abides in the vine. No more can you, except you abide in me” - John 15:4
Just as a branch grows because of its connection to the vine, we grow and produce fruits because of our connection to Christ. Without connection to Christ, we can do nothing that would glorify our God.
There are those who think they can bear fruit on their own without Christ. Then the ultimate question you need to ask yourself is whether your fruits are the kind of fruits that glorify God. Fruit bearing is not a matter of being strong, smart or experienced, or even about getting praises or a pat on the back from a “well done job.”
Fruit bearing is about having a close enough relationship with God through Christ, that you will be able to produce the kind of fruits God wants you to produce – His way. It’s about producing fruits that will draw attention to God, and not yourself. It’s about humbly recognizing that without Christ, you could not have produce anything that would be acceptable and glorifying to God.
God has appointed His Son to be the source of grace and strength by which believers can receive the right kind of care and nourishment in order to grow, and produce fruits of holiness – the only kind of fruit that would be acceptable to a Holy God. If it wasn’t produced through Christ, it will not be approved by God.
So regardless of your gifts, talents, wisdom, accomplishments and educational background, you cannot produce anything of spiritual value for God’s Kingdom, if you are not by faith connected to His son, Jesus Christ our Savior.
Intimately entangle yourself in Christ the true vine, because He is the “real” key to a Fruitful and Prosperous life.
