“A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD…” – Proverbs 12:2a
The word favor has many meanings. Depending on its usage, it can mean grace, a free and unmerited act of kindness beyond what a person deserves as in what God did for mankind in sending His Only Begotten Son, to save a world that deserves to die in their sins. This was a gift God gave no man deserved.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” – Ephesians 2:8
It can mean having the approval or support of someone or something, which is the kind of favor we are talking about here. God’s approval or support of a person in whom His delight of them is clearly shown through their life as evidence he is pleased with them, just as it was clearly shown in the life of His Son Jesus.
In fact, before Jesus began His ministry, God made it known to a surrounding crowd that He was well pleased with His Son.
“And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” - Matthew 3:16-17
If a person has the favor of God in their life, there will be noticeable evidence. It will be clearly seen without having to announce it to the world, and it will be unquestionably known that God is well pleased with this person, and that this person has His approval or support.
Can you honestly say that you have the favor of God, that you have His approval or support in what you are doing and how you are living your life?
