"The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakens morning by morning, he wakens my ear to hear as the learned." - Isaiah 50:4
We've all had our share of times where we have either been hurt, frustrated, discouraged or sick. But nothing is worse than while you are under these dark clouds to have someone who is trying to give you words of encouragement, instead spoke words that made you feel worse or had nothing to do with what you were going through.
The tongue is a very powerful source in that the words which proceeds out of it can heal or hurt, encourage or discourage - "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof" (Proverbs 18:21). The damage done by hurtful words have caused many people to become resentful, rebellious, bitter and unforgiving. Some even considering taking their own life as the only way out of their situation.
To speak the right words at the right time is to have the intelligence under the anointing of the Holy Spirit to understand the occasion or situation for which a right now word is needed.
Before you open your mouth to speak a word to a person who is in a bad or discomforting situation, think before you speak. Seek wisdom from the Lord as to the right words to say in a person's right now situation. Remember, this is not about getting a pat on the back for the “good word” you spoke. This is about speaking the right words in a right now situation, that could possibly lead to healing a heart and saving a life.
