“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ” – II Peter 3:18a
If a believer in Christ makes no effort to improving the condition of his mind and soul, he will be a stagnant and untransformed man with an unnurtured and unhealthy soul. Will this be the end result for you?
If the soul is to become healthy and prosperous you must make time to grow in the knowledge of the truth of God’s Word and in grace.
“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” – II Peter 1:5-8
How many hours do you work in one day? How much time are you left with to spend with God and to take care of your soul? Nothing will move, grow, advance, or be improved if there is no effort on the part of the man.
The man who purposely, deliberately and consistently study God’s Word, and then walks according to the word of God can expect to have a healthy and prosperous soul by God’s definition.
Make prospering your soul a priority during your day. Make it the first part of your day. If the first part of the day does not work for you, make an effort to set aside some time during the day. The point is to make an effort.
