“Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime" - Daniel 6:10
Since the time of his youth, Daniel always had set times during the day where he would spend praying and praising God. Nothing could have stood in his way to prevent him from keeping the time he had set aside for spending with God.
Daniel was given authority over officers and princes because of his wisdom and integrity. This announcement did not please the officers and the princes. Knowing about Daniel's faithfulness to his prayer times, they came up with a plot using his prayer time as bait to draw him into an opposition against the king. With their hidden agenda, they influenced the king to pass a law that would put to death anyone who prayed to any god or man, other than the king himself.
Yet, despite the newly passed law and the danger that would come to anyone who disregarded the law, Daniel kept on praying at his usual time. He would not let fear or the plot of an enemy prevent him from doing what he was accustomed to doing. Neither did he use his circumstance as an excuse to not keep his scheduled times with God. He stayed consistent and faithful to the times he set aside for spending with God - nothing changed.
When you set aside a specific time to spend with God, don't let anything or anybody keep you from keeping your appointment with God.
Just as you keep appointments in your life that are important, make spending time with God just as important since He is an important part of your everyday life.
