"Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God" - Romans 8:7-8
When a spouse does something to jeopardize the trust between husband and wife, hostility develops. When it is found out that a friend you have known for years, was not as good a friend you thought they were, hostility develops.
When a man disobeys God's word to do what pleases himself rather than pleasing God, or live in a way that contradicts the teachings of God’s word, this man is placing himself in a position of hostility in his relationship with God, whether he accepts this truth or not. Because of his unwillingness to obey God's word, he cannot please God while he is in this state.
God absolutely loves us, but he does not love the things we do, that are in total contradiction of what he has declared to be holy or godliness.
If you find yourself in a position where you are faced with making a decision as to whether or not you will choose to please your flesh over pleasing God, come to grips with yourself and realize, is it worth jeopardizing your friendship with God?
If you have already made the choice to do things your way, to please yourself rather than pleasing God, it's not over. Your relationship with God can be revived.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” – I John 1:9
Thanks be to God that he sent his Son to be a savior for the world, and our advocate with the Father if we sin against the Father.
