“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” – I Peter 2:2
Every born-again believer in Christ should be educated on the truths of God’s word that he may know God, know the Son of God, and know how to live a life that is pleasing to God.
A believer in Christ who professes to have a relationship with God, how can he not have a desire to know more about God? How can he be content with not knowing all there is to know about his Loving and Merciful Father in Heaven?
When there is no desire to grow in the knowledge of God and to know the truths of the gospel, you not only will have no true knowledge of God, you will be exposed to wolves in sheep clothing who will expose you to false teachings and doctrines about God.
The object of salvation is not only to convince a man of his sins, and to convert him, it is also to fully equip him with all the instruction (education and training) needed for full growth and maturity in Christ. The scriptures can take us into a higher knowledge about our Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus. Without the scriptures, there can be no growing in the knowledge of God.
If there is a sincere desire to know anything about the Father and His Son, you must read and study the sacred scriptures of God’s Holy and Infallible Word. If perhaps you are having difficulty reading, studying and understanding the scriptures, “ask” God to lead you to someone He knows can be trusted to help lead you to the “right truth.”
