"For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding” – Colossians 1:9
In the apostle Paul’s prayer, he expresses his desire that the Colossian church would make every effort to be fully acquainted with what God would have them to do, an appropriate prayer for all churches throughout all generations.
Believers in Christ should take every opportunity to be filled with the knowledge of God’s purpose for their lives, with an understanding of what those things are and what they mean. Unfortunately, many professed believers of Christ do not take the time to better acquaint themselves with God and His will for their life.
How can a man live according to the will of God, if he does not know what the will of God is? And if he claims to know the will of God, but does not the will of God, he may not have an understanding of what he thinks he knows. He not only has no knowledge of God and His will for their life, he has no knowledge of the danger he may be exposed to by wolves in sheep clothing (Matthew 7:15).
God wants you to make every effort to better acquaint yourself with His will and purpose for your life, especially in the times we are now living. The Holy Spirit is the only way by which any man can know the things of God. Not through human or fleshly wisdom, but through the Holy Spirit.
The question for you is, what are you willing to do to better acquaint yourself with God and His will for your life?
