“Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed” – John 6:27
What should be the most important thing in the day to day life of a believer?
While it may be important to pursue after the desires of your heart as the main purpose in life, you should be just as concern with feeding your soul.
God wants each and every one of His children to prosper in every area of our lives, and to be in good health; but He desires that our soul prosper even more, that we grow and mature in our spiritual life.
The soul needs strength, it needs nourishment, it needs to be fed to keep it alive and from withering away. The only resource that can provide the soul with what it needs is the Bible – the Holy and Pure Word of God. It is spiritual food for our spiritual life. It is the meat, bread and water the soul cannot live without.
This doesn’t mean we should make no effort in obtaining the necessities of life, or in pursuing the desires of our heart, but rather, we should not make it a priority over taking care of our soul, that it becomes more important than taking care our soul.
When you invest time in taking care of your soul and developing your relationship with God, you can expect that the end result will be a healthy and prosperous soul.
What are you willing to change in your life to make taking care of your soul a priority?
