"Afterward Jesus find him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, you are made whole: sin no more…" John 5:14a
When a man has been restored from the consequences of sin, or delivered from bondage and captivity, or healed from sickness or disease - why would he want to go back to the very thing that caused him to be in that condition? Why would he reach back to be pulled back into a condition that almost took him out?
No one should ever want to go down that road again. But how quickly do some forget. As soon as they are restored, refreshed and well enough to move around, they eventually move themselves right back into the very same thing that brought them discontent, discomfit and grief.
It is amazing how extreme pain will make a man groan and moan wishing to be out of his condition, but he won't groan and moan for help to be kept back from doing those things that will lead him to it.
If you have considered or are contemplating on returning to a life of sin, or to the very thing that kept you in bondage, or caused your health to fail, I encourage you to take heed to these words today - "don't go back." Don’t go back to the thing that almost took you out.
If you are experiencing a strong struggle to give into the desires of your flesh, the Lord is able to equip you with enough strength to overcome them. He is able to keep you from giving into the desires of the flesh – that’s assuming you have no desire of going back.
