“If you then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” – Colossians 3:1-2
Since we have been risen into a new life with Christ; all we say, do and pursue after should now correspond with that of a new man.
That means there should be a “no more” desire for the things in this world to wanting “more” of the things in the heavenly world. Seeking to please your flesh as the prime desire of your heart should be “no more.” With Christ now being in you, it should have effected some kind of change in your life to where the things you used to do, and your way of life and thinking is not the same.
What is change? - Change means to quit doing one thing, to do another; to alter; to make different; to undergo a new look.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” – II Corinthians 5:17
If you claim to have been risen with Christ, but are still seeking and pursuing the things of this world as your main objective, then surely something is wrong.
Your new life in Christ should now be in accordance to that of a man who has been risen with Christ; a man who no longer thinks like the world; whose main objective in this earthly world is to go after the things in the heavenly world. You should be as much in earnest after the things in heaven, as you did for the earthly things before your conversion in Christ…
Unless, the Holy Spirit is being hindered from working in your life.
