“O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is” – Psalm 63:1
Spending time alone with a loved one provides the opportunity to truly come to know that person. Spending time alone with God is no different.
Making time to spend with God alone outside of regular study groups will be the desire of those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, those who want a closer relationship with the Lord, those who want more of the Lord, and know He is the only source the soul will find satisfaction.
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” - Matthew 5:6
While many Christians long for the things of this world to gratify their desires, there are those who know there is nothing in this world, nothing in this dry and thirsty land that can satisfy the thirsty soul of a man in Christ, then spending time in the presence of the Lord where he can drink from the well of living waters.
There are many examples in the Bible of people who spent time alone with God, even when they were in trouble. But the ultimate example we have is Jesus Christ our Savior and Humble Servant. No matter what His enemies were conspiring against Him, it didn’t stop Him from spending time with His Father in Heaven.
After all that has been said, and all the examples that have been given, it will still be up to you to make a decision to spend time with your Father in Heaven. Do you ever feel a desire to spend time with your Father in Heaven?
