WISDOM AND INSPIRATIONAL DEVOTIONALS
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise” – Psalm 51:17
____________________ Repentance involves the acknowledgment or confession of your sins from the sincerity of your heart, that you are guilty of disobeying the law of God. “For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin” – Psalm 38:18 When you are deeply and sincerely sorrow for something you’ve done, that thing will affect you. It will make you feel like your inside has been broken into pieces, especially when you realize that it was God you offended. “When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long” – Psalm 32:3 “Against you, you only, have I sinned, and done this evil in your sight”- Psalm 51:4a A heart that is deeply affected by a sin committed, will have no further desire to intentionally commit sin or continue in sin, especially one it has sincerely and sorrowfully confessed. Repentance of sins cannot be overlooked or skipped thinking you have not done anything wrong and sinned against God. “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” - 1 John 1:8 Under the new covenant, repentance for sin must be as God requires, and on God’s terms. There is no way around it and no exceptions to these terms. "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men everywhere to repent” - Acts 17:30 The good news is, when we do sincerely and sorrowfully confess our sins… “The Lord is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” - 1 John 1:9b Start each day with prayer and sincere confession of your transgressions. Seek to have a truthful, faithful and right relationship with a Holy, Loving and Faithful God doing all He requires, as He requires it to be done – even repentance of your sins. ___________ By Gale Henderson.
