Travelling an Unknown Journey with Jesus

Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, unto a land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him” - Genesis 12:1-2 & 4a.

When Abraham was instructed by God to leave his home, he didn’t hesitate or make excuses. He got up and left not knowing what would be ahead on his journey.
 
Even though the Lord had promised Abraham a blessing if he went, it had to be Abraham’s faithful Love for God, that caused him to get up and go with confidence and courage, without having the slightest idea where he was going.
 
All he knew was that, wherever the All Wise and Merciful God would lead him, he would be taken on a journey that would lead him to the blessing God promised him. Do you trust the Lord enough to get up and move when He says move without any hesitation, questions and excuses? Do you expect that whatever blessings the Lord promises would come without doing anything on our part?
 
If you were to get a phone call today, and the voice on the other side of the receiver tells you that a piece of land, or a large amount of money, or perhaps both was just given to you through an inheritance, but you would have to travel a long distant to claim it - would you just sit there and do nothing?
 
Often times when the Lord is compelling us to move in a certain direction, it is not for us to try and figure out what the Lord is doing, and why the Lord is doing it. It is for us to most importantly trust Him as Lord over our life who Only knows what’s best for us, and who Only knows the way we must travel to get us to the place of our destiny.
 
On the roads Christ traveled during His life and ministry on earth, He never took any shortcuts, even when He knew His time had come to leave this world. When he knew danger was coming, He faced it with courage and confidence, knowing that the Father in Heaven was with Him. And so should we.
 
I know it’s easier said than done, when we are actually faced with this kind of challenge. Should we go, or shouldn’t we? Is this the voice of God, or the voice of the enemy trying to set me up?
 
John 10:27 - My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
 
The good thing about having a close relationship with the Lord is, we can talk to Him about anything, even those things we are unsure of, like a man name Gideon did.
 
When the Lord called him to rise up and lead the children of Israel into battle against the Philistines, he wanted to make sure he wasn’t hearing things. We are talking about a man who was nothing more than a wheat thresher, who was poor, and not known by many people. He was a nobody who was being called out to be a somebody for a nation who never heard of him.
 
This opportunity for prestige didn’t move Gideon one bit. He was not about to step out there for nobody, if he did not have confirmation. Not only did he get confirmation, he received reassurance from the Lord that He will be with Him. Just as he will be with you, should you answer the call to “go.”
 
My prayer for you is, as you receive confirmation of God’s call to “go”, that you will do so with courage, confidence and in the strength of the Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
