“I laid me down and slept, I awaked, for the LORD sustained me" - Psalm 3:5
David was being pursued by an army of enemies, who had driven him from his throne and his home.
What's worse than this, is that the man who led this conspired attack against him was someone he knew. It was someone in his own household – it was his own son, Absalom.
But despite the danger David was in, he laid himself down to rest. He had so much confidence that God would hear and answer his prayers, that despite the anxiety and distress he was under from the thought of an ungrateful son, who had spearheaded a conspiracy against him, he was able to rest in the midst of chaos, feeling safe and secured in the arms of the Lord.
David was able to experience the peace God gives to those who place total confidence in Him. A confidence which resulted in proof of God’s faithfulness in His promises to his children, of never leaving us or forsaking us, even in the midst of chaos.
Are you under attack by an enemy? Have you not been able to sleep because of it? Know that you serve a God who never sleeps, so you can. He will watch over you by day and by night while keeping your enemies from lifting a hand against you. He is the protector of our Life and Soul in every danger we may face.
With confidence in God, you can rest in the midst of Chaos not fearing the plots of wicked men, even in the midnight hours.
