WISDOM AND INSPIRATIONAL DEVOTIONALS
“Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime" - Daniel 6:10
_______________ Since the time of his youth, Daniel always had set times during the day where he would spend praying and praising God. Nothing could have stood in his way to prevent him from keeping those times. From the scriptures, we learn Daniel was given authority over officers and princes because of his wisdom and integrity. This did not please the officers and the princes. So, knowing about Daniel's faithfulness to his prayer times, they came up with a plot using his prayer time as bait to draw him into an opposition against the king. With their hidden agenda, they influenced the king to pass a law that would put to death anyone who prayed to any god or man other than the king himself. Yet, despite the newly passed law and the danger that would come to anyone who disregarded it, Daniel kept on praying at his usual times. He remained loyal and consistent, letting nothing change or interrupt his set time with God, not even an enemy’s plot. Neither did he use his situation as an excuse to cancel his scheduled time. When you set aside a specific time to spend with God, do what you can to let nothing, or no one, prevent you from keeping this time. Be just as committed to keeping and spending time with God as you are to keeping important appointments and meeting schedules, especially since He is an important part of your daily life. ___________ By Gale Henderson.
